Bye bye our favorite project

Our project is finished. We are very happy to have worked with you and we wish you all the best... "Bye bye Journalists!" we're looking forward to working with you again!

We're happy and we know we love eTwinning!😊

Our experience from the teleconference - written by Byron

During the teleconference in which our newspaper group participated, along with other countries from Europe, we started by asking some questions that each country had assigned to some of the participants. After we answered the questions, we sang "If You’re Happy and You Know It." We sang it in English all together, but also each country sang it separately in their own language. It was fun, but at the same time, we learned information about the school systems of the other program members. In conclusion, this program helps us learn various information, even about our own country! I would recommend you to participate next year because, in addition to gaining knowledge, you will also make friends.

Our experience from Our eTwinning Project - written by Konstantinos

This year we had the chance to participate in a programme called e-twinning with the school newspaper. In this programme we could collaborate with other children from other countries and thats why a lot of children wanted to take place in the school newspaper. In e-twinning we could gather with my classmates and do many things such communicate with the other schools. I didnt have heard anything about e-twinning but now i think that e-twinning is a good programme for many activities you need to do. Also the programme helped us to develop such a variety of things. For example be more socialised because we were answering eachothers questions and we were discovering how its school has an opinion different or same . We 've had a great time with e-twinning and i hope that we will continue using it next year also.

Positive and negative aspects of school systems

Italy

Written by Flavio A., Alessandro S., Lorenzo S., Ikhlase L., Domenico G., Daniel C.

A positive aspect of our school is the timetable from Monday to Friday from 7.50 to 1.50 p.m. because when lessons finish we have time to do sport, to relax and do homework.

A system where students are appreciated when they behave positively.

Written by Gregorio U., Gabriele T., Asia M., Angelica P., Sebastiano V.

We think that the IT lab is the best part of our school because it is useful, it is entertaining since all the world is based on technology, but in Italy we have still to deepen our knowledge in this sector. Now we are using “sketch up” which programs in 3D (like Scratch) in a course financed by a resilience national plan which has the aim to help female students to cope better with Technology, Science, Maths, Art.

In the Italian school system they must add more entertaining projects: for example by playing and learning together. If I were a teacher, I would give 20 minutes of relax and play together and then another 20 minutes where you have to repeat the topics and then let the kids play with Wordwall. This way the kids will learn more than normal.

Greece

Written by Dimos Z.

At the Greek educational system we have a lot of holidays. Also, we finish school in early June.

On the other, hand we have a lot of homework and a lot of exams.

SPAIN

Written by Dani, Daniela, Adrián, Veronica and Pablo.

Talking about the educational system in Spain we have to say that there aren't many holidays during the school year.

Students usually stay in the same school from 3 to 16 but also, there are a lot of school in which students finish at the age of 18. Then, they go to universtity. Student use ICT during their classes in order to improve their learning.

Students must study a lot of subjects and do lots of exams and projects, as well.

In mosts schools students start their lessons at 8 o'clock in the morning and finish around 2 pm. During the day they have two breaks. they love playing football, basketball or talking to their friends.

Green country in the project

We asked each other questions on the forum to introduce ourselves and our schools at the beginning of the project. We created a poll on the question "How do you get to school?". We had the idea to elect the "greenest country".

 Italy

We are not very green since most of us (9 people out of 11) come to school by car. Sestri Levante is a quite big town near the sea, but we all live far from school and our homes are on the hills surrounding the town. In some cases the school bus doesn't arrive there. Since these areas are not very inhabited the public service of means of transport doesn't operate here very much: there are only 5/6 public busses arriving there during all the day. Italy is not so green, but maybe in the future we hope to do better.

Maybe the areas where you live have better services.

Spain

In our case we are generally green. Our school is two kilometres from the city center. Most people live in that area. 29 students out of 50 boys and girls get to school on foot everyday. There is a special path so that pupils come complete safely to school. They love walking and talking to their partners on the way to school. Most teacher walk to school as well and it's a fantastic opportunity to talk to them about their hobbies. Only one student out of 50 go to school on bike. Some of them (18 out of 50) come to school by car. They usually live outside our town, 20 or 30 kilometres far away from the school. And finally only two students get to school using public buses.

Spain, step by step, is trying to be a little greener. Let's go ahead!

Greece

Here, in Greece we usually go to school on foot. Some students live quite far from the school, so they have a number of different ways to go to school like by school bus or by car. The problem with the bus is that you need to wake up really early otherwise you will miss it. Another way is by car where the kids get driven to school by their parents, this way is quite beneficial as kids can wake up whenever they want but it is not always the most practical way, because parents can not always do it.

Almost all of our teachers go to school by car and many middle aged people use car in our area. Our case here in Greece is quite unique because as we get older we prefer more and more to go to work by car, not even by public transportation.

In my opinion the best way to go to school is on foot. Me and my friends care a lot about the enviroment so even kids who live far away from school would prefer going to school by bike because it is way more environmentally friendly so that  we can live in a better place and become greener step by step!!!

Presentation of the jigsaw about human rights

Written by Gregorio U., Sebastiano V., Asia M., Angelica P., Sebastiano V.

Yesterday, 27th May 2024, we organized an event to commemorate the convention UN about the rights of children and adolescents where each class of the school prepared a jigsaw about the rights: 1. Right to physical and psychological upbringing 2. Right to protection from violence, exploitment, abuse 3. Right to education 4. Right to family 5. Right to opinion 6. Right to freedom of thinking and religion 7. Right to nationality 8. Right to protection from war, macis, discrimination 9. Right to free time, playing A small group from each class presented the jigsaw on the basketball court. As you can see in the photos we created a frame joining our hands and we listened to “All together” song and “We are the world”. We presented the jigsaw on the 27th May because we commemorate the event of the signature of the convention in Italy which happened on 27th May 1991.

eTwinning live conference

Written by Gregorio U., Sebastiano V., Asia M., Angelica P., Sebastiano V., Flavio A., Daniel C., Lorenzo S., Alessandro S.

Yesterday, 27th May, we met on the Twinspace at 12 p.m. to discuss about school systems, differences, and finally we sang a song in all the 5 languages of the project: Greek, Spanish, Slovakian, Italian and French. It has been a unique opportunity to know how school works abroad. We took notes about other school systems to compare them and find out what is good in our school system and what we would like to introduce.

The song that we sang together enhance the differences among countries and multilingualism. We used English to communicate throughout the project but the differences in our mothertongues should be highlighted too and we respect them since we understood that it is the base of being part of a united Europe

Listen to our fantastic song:

Everyone was very excited and we enjoyed this time together.

A special race in our school.

Every year we have a very special event at our school. This is the solidarity race in which all students and teachers participate.

It is a very beautiful day.

On this occasion, this year we had the opportunity to help a girl with a rare disease.

First, her father explained to us what Rett syndrome consists of.

We asked questions to get interested in the problem.

The next day we had our race.

We all supported with our donations to help the investigation.

Next year we'll participate again! Will you join? Why not!

Last May 9th we celebrated etwinning day.

The students participating in the etwinning project “Journalist for my school” prepared an exhibition mural to visualize all the good things about carrying out an etwinning project.

We consider  very important to give visibility to all the opportunities that etwinning offers us, improving learning and, above all, improving some skills.

We encourage you to participate next year.

We are etwinning school!

Friendship bank in our school.

The United Nations Anti-Bullying Day took place on 4 May. People who are bullied are more likely to suffer from depression and anxiety. They might lose interest in the activities they enjoy, avoid spending time with other people and not go to classes or school, which has a negative effect on their learning. The message is that bullying is never OK.

Trying to prevent these aspects in our school, and coordinate with the psychologist from our school, a group of students from Secondary started at the beginning or the the course a special action called FRIENDSHIP BANK. The students are in charge of ensuring that all those students who need  can come to the friendship bank during break time and share their concerns, always are under the supervision of the school psychologist. They usually have systematic meetings with her and talk about how we can help students who have some type of need during the course, above all we take care of listening to them during recess hours.

The friendship bank is a place where boys and girls who suffer from problems or bullying are helped by a group of children who are committed to attending to the needs of others and thus make them feel accompanied instead of alone.

🛑 TOGETHER WE CAN STOP BULLYING!
