An exciting experience.

We have received a group of women from the socio-health center to carry out an activity about the contributions that many women with their work and research have contributed to improving many aspects of our lives. They have also conducted an interview to get to know the most important women in their lives. A large part of our students have been moved by remembering their elders. See you soon, we will continue to meet to discover the life that the people who currently reside in the center have led.

We have had a fantastic morning all together.

See you soon, friends forever.

First attempts with Scratch

Written by Gregorio, Gabriele and Asia.

Our science project: scratch

A few weeks ago, our science teacher proposed a new programming project. The goal of this project is to end up being able to create our own videogame about celiac diseases.

We started by pasting a pre-made flowchart into our very first script. Our teacher explained that we needed to add a background to our “videogame“. She also explained to us that we needed to create a new character and modify the project to our liking. We went to the IT lab so many times to perfect it. Our classmate, Angelica is so good at it.

In the next science lesson we will eventually finish this project and the teacher will give us a grade.

This will be part of our civic education program.

You can play with the videogame we created and shared. The character is celiac so it mustn’t eat gluten!

The “Bancarellino” is a competition to encourage the kids to read books.

The goal of this competition is to read 3 books in 3 months. Students become literary critics and vote the best one.

In our class 8 students  took part because we like reading, then 2 teachers came to our class with 8 class books and distributed them.

Each class has a number of books based on the number of participating students. On 25th of May we’re going to Pontremoli in Tuscany to rate the best book, which will be awarded.

Geogebra

Written by Lorenzo S., Alessandro S., Domenico G., Ikhlase L.

In our school there were various activities that impressed us, for example a work with geogebra that really impressed us. Geogebra is a virtual platform in which you create geometric figures, our Maths teacher gave us an outline (we had to make a kite exactly). A few days before carrying out this work we attended a short lesson where they told us how to use the platform. The same day we attended a short lesson where he said that mathematics is not created but discovered therefore it existed before we existed in nature. The majority of the class managed to do the exercise successfully. It made us more aware of the world of geometry and competent. The organisers congratulated us.

Safer Internet Day

In our school we are celebrating Safer Internet Day and we are talking about cyber bullying and the consequences and implications on teenagers’ minds. Unluckily it is still a too common phenomenon among young people.

We produced a short video and a presentation that we will publish here.

Everyone grows up only if they were dreamed

Davide Cerullo

On  Tuesday 13th February, we met Davide Cerullo, an ex member of the camorra, who came to our school and taught us his story.

He was born in Scampia, a quarter in Naples, that is not well seen since it’s full of criminals. He had exactly 6 sisters and 8 brothers, this is also one of the reasons he never felt loved. Since he was young he used to work for the camorra by delivering narcotic substances without even knowing. He would get paid by member of the camorra since he couldn’t get punished legally. When he was really young he was already dreaming of having a gun; now he dreams of being a kid again.

One of the biggest reasons he joined the camorra was that he didn’t get any education and wasn’t able to stand up for himself. Camorra is an illegal criminal organisation based in Campania, a region in the South of Italy.

The aim of the meeting is that every child grows up with good worths only is their parents, school and environment help them to have good roots and he underlined the importance of education in this process.

When he was 14 years old he got control of a drug dealing square and also got his hands on a gun; he felt like God and earned 900.000 lire a day (about 4500 euro a day).

When he got arrested for drug dealing he was 17, and found a small copy of the Bible on his bed and started browsing it till he got to one of the last pages and he saw that his was repeated 3 times, from this point forward, he understood that there was still a chance for him to change and become a better person.

He changed his lifestyle and when he grew up he founded an association named Albero delle storie (The Tree of Stories) to help the kids of Scampia.

Now he has about 42 nephews, and he is finally happy..

Regional athletics championship in Imperia

Written by Flavio A., Domenico G., Ikhlase L., Daniel C., Alessandro S., Lorenzo S.

On the 6th of February we went to Imperia. Our bus arrived 1 hour late. The journey was tow hours long, but pleasently quiet. When we arrived we started immediatly our warm-up routine.

The course was quite interesting: you would start on the straight and do 3/4 of a lap and then cut into the grass, do some zig zag in the middle and then go on to the track, and behind towards the lockers on the gravel to then get back on to the front straight and do another lap.

The course was well planed and gave our team a third place with a first, a 14th, and two other unknown placements. The return journey was almost better than the first because we were al in a good mood and happy to get back home.

Flavio A. won a gold medal, Anna won a silver one and the team composed of Flavio A., Daniel C., Francesco S., Alessandro B, and Domenico G. got  a third placement

🏅🥇🥈🥉

Thanks to our P.E. teacher, Ms Alessandra Tinè. 🇮🇹🏅

“Con lo sguardo di Nella” – “Looking with Nella’s eyes” Shoah commemoration theatre performance

 Written by Gregorio U., Gabriele T., Sebastiano V., Asia M., Angelica P.

Every year in our  school in February there is a show performed by students. They act and read stories of people who had lived during the Second World War and the Shoah.

On the first of February 2024 we went to the cinema and we watched this performance, named “Looking with Nella’s eyes”. At the beginning the actors got expelled from their school in Genoa, and they got deported to the concentration camp in Calvari, a small town in Fontanabuona in the province of Genoa. They lived in slums and life was really hard because they were prisoners and hardly got fed. After that they were taken to Milan and then to prison. Later they were deported to Auschwitz Birkenau from platform 21 which was the platform the trains left towards the concentration camps.

When they arrived there they divided people: they tattooed a number on an arm to recognise them, they shaved their heads, they got dressed as prisoners and the weakest ones were taken to gas chambers and when they died they were burned. This is the first story we were told.

The second story is about Andra and Tati and their cousin Sergio, at the beginning Sergio said that they moved from Naples to Rjieka but there they were arrested and taken to San Sabba concentration camp. They were taken to milan where they found their grandma and they left to Auschwitz. When they arrived they were divided and their grandma was killed while Andra, Tati and Sergio were led to a kinderblock. Once the lady who looked after the children told Tatiana that one day someone will ask them whether  they wanted to see their parents again and they should have answered that they don’t. they were exchanged for twins and for this reason they survived.

The third story was about Liliana Segre who told that she was deported to Auschwitz at the age of 13 but since she looked older, she was divided and went with the women and they cleaned the slums and worked. At the end there is a flashback about the first story of Nella’s life who died in gas chambers a month before her sixth birthday.

In our opinion it was touchy and it is important in their life. By Gabriele T., Gregorio U., Sebastiano V., Angelica P. and their classmates
